The Orange Crush 20L is a simple to use all-analogue twin channel practice amp with an 8 inch speaker. It provides a “tube-like” sound that’s perfect for low volume levels...
A few years ago I was shopping for a small practice amp. Above all, I wanted something that was light weight (easy to move). With that, I also wanted an amp with as decent a sound as I could get. Now obviously that’s a tall order, but I believe that found it in the Orange Crush 20!
I often find myself in playing situations where I am doing a short rehearsal at someone’s home studio, or perhaps I’m playing at a location where mobility (in and out of a venue) is easier said & done with minimal gear.
Enter the “Orange – Crush 20L”
The Orange Crush 20L is about as basic as one can get. It’s a solid state 20 watt guitar practice amp that features an all-analogue signal path, including;
- a footswitchable clean and dirty channel
- three-band EQ (low, mid, high)
- aux in (for playing along to music)
- headphone output (with cab speaker simulation)
The amp really does have a fantastic sound (for an 8″ speaker), and it gets a ton of use both at home and out on the town.
One of the best features that I like about about this little guy (aside from its small size & light weight), is that since my sound is almost always being handled as a clean tone sound, I can use this amp along with a reverb pedal and produce a great sound anywhere that I need it.
My only additional comment is that the Orange Crush 20L does not have any built in effects, (i.e., Reverb) so as one would guess – it does offer up a sound that’s incredibly dry. Therefore, it goes without saying that, a Reverb pedal (at the very least) is an important add on.
My go to Reverb for this amp is the BOSS Reverb Guitar Pedal (RV-6).
